Homemade Organic Frozen Dog Treats,

CLICK HERE FOR HOMEMADE DOG FOOD RECIPES!

This is a nice and easy homemade organic dog treat made with all natural organic dog food. My crew loves it, espcially in the hot summer days, just like we enjoy our icecream in the summer.

FROZEN MEAT POPS

  • You need to use a can of premium quality organic dog food of your choice.
  • Drop teaspoon sized bites onto a parchement covered sheet pan, just like when you make cookies
  • Freeze the drops for several hours, or overnight, and pop into a zip lock baggie and you’re ready to go.

I use this canned food found here at: Only Natural Pet Store. It actually smells pretty good, compared to the crappy preservative filled canned food that we all grew up seeing on the grocery shelves. Choose your dog’s favorite.

Each frozen organic dog treat is low in calories and according to my group of afficianados, very tasty indeed.   Better than an ice cube on a hot summer afternoon, while resting under the shade tree.

Yummy! – I use the venison flavored organic dog food. This food is processed in the can, with 95% of the product being meat, and of course none of the additives, preservatives, and other nasty stuff we like to avoid for our fur babies.

FROZEN JUICE POPS.

  • 1 quart natural fruit juice – (not sugared drinks, but real juice)
  • 1 peeled ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup plain whole milk yoghurt
  • Blend all together in your kitchen blender
  • Freeze in ice cube trays and they are ready for a hot summer afternoon anytime

Make sure not to use grape juice as this is toxic to dogs.

Another great natural frozen treat that is good for those long hot summer afternoons, and low in calories, and is quite simple.

BEEF CRUNCHIES

1 pound lean organic stewing beef

Dice the meat into half-inch cubes. Cover a baking sheet with baking parchement and place the cubes of meat on it, close together. Put into a cold oven and heat to 300 degrees F. Cook the meat in the oven for 1 hour.

My favorite pic of me with Clyde

Reduce the oven temperature to 210 degrees F and prop open the oven door to allow the moisture to escape. Dry the cubes of meat in the oven for a further 2 hours.

Allow the beef crunchies to dry overnight at room temperature.

The crunchies will keep for up to a year in an airtight container in the fridge – If your dog will allow it!

I found the above recipe in cook book for dogs titled: COOKING FOR YOUR DOG, Tasty, healthy and safe recipes, by Ingeborg Pils.

Lola and Clyde

My favorite pics of Clyde the pug. He is my nephews dog, but lived with us for a while when he was a pup. He thought Lola was his mommy. They still come over for play time.

PEANUT BUTTER CRISPS:

I break these into small pieces and use them as training treats. I carry them my pocket and my girls always listen to me because they love the smell and taste of peanut butter.

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 TBSP peanut butter
  • 1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

Mix all 3 ingredients together until well blended and spread dough evenly on a cookie sheet. (I spray a scant amount of calorie free non stick spam or other brand on the cookie sheet first.)

Cut the dough into squares, triangles or whatever shape you prefer – making about 24 treats.

Bake for 30 minutes until crispy. Keep for a week or two in a tupperware container, if they last that long. When I use them as training treats I break them into smaller nibble size portions, after baking.

PEANUT BUTTER TREATS WITH MOLASSES

Bake at 350 degrees for 25 – 30 minutes (until firm)

Molasses is a healthy sweetener that has a variety of trace minerals, including manganese, which is good for your dog. Don’t forget this not a meal or meal replacement, and should not be used to fill you pooch up with too many a day. Lady's smile gets a treat every time - Silly girl, CLICK LADY FOR TREAT RECIPES

  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 4 TBSP. blackstrap molasses
  • 1 cup water
  • 6 TBSP vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour

Mix  the molasses, peanut butter, water and oil until blended.

Combine the oats and flour in a separate bowl, then slowly add to the wet ingredients. Mix thoroughly (I use my blender and pulse until it forms a ball around the side of the bowl.), but this can easily be done with a hand mixer, or even by hand.

Drop approximately 36 teaspoon sized portions onto a baking sheet. I flatten them with the bottom of a glass, and bake as stated above.

These are sturdy and will keep in an airtight container for about 2 weeks.
